MANTOVA
The Province of
Mantova confines to North and to East with the
Veneto (province of
Verona and province of
Rovigo), to South with the
Emilia Romagna (province of
Ferrara, of
modena, of
Reggio Emilia, of
Parma), and to West with the province of
Cremona and the Province of
Brescia.
Geography
The province of
Mantova is in the south-eastern part of the Lombardy. The area is characterized by one of the most fertile territories of Italy, rich of rivers. The rivers which cross this territory are five:
Po, Chiese, Secchia, Oglio and
Mincio. This one surrounds the city of
Mantova and forms the three lakes on which the city is constructed, the Superior Lake, the lake of Half and the Inferior lake. Except a small hilly part, rich of vineyards, in almost all the province the
Padana Plain spreads.
How to arrive:
By car - The city is on the motorway A22
Brennero-Modena and is linked by State Roads to the motorway A2 Milan-Venice (junction
Peschiera for who arrives from Milan; junction
Verona South for who arrives from Venice) and to the motorway of sun A1 (unction
Parma for who arrives from west; junction
Reggio Emilia for who arrives from
Bologna).
By train - From
Mantova pass the lines Milan-
Ferrara,
Pavia-Mantova-Monselice and
Verona-Modena.
By airplane - The airport of
Villafranca (Vr) is at only 20 Km from the city and is well linked through a service of shuttle. The airport of
Bologna and the airport of
Orio al Serio of
Bergamo area at about 100 Km; nearer is the one of
Parma (60Km).
