BERGAMO
The province of
Bergamo is one of the eleven provinces of the Lombardy. It confines to North with the Province of
Sondrio, to West with the Province of
Lecco and the Province of
Milano, to South with the Province of
Cremona and to East with The Province of
Brescia.
Geography
The Province of
Bergamo is situated in the centre-oriental part of the Lombardy. The western border is marked from the watershed between the basins of the
Brembo river and the lake of
Como to north and from the
Adda river to south. The northern border follows the main peaks of the Alps
Orobie. The oriental border follows before the watershed between the Valley of
Scalve and the
Camonica Valley, therefore the Lake of
Iseo and the
Oglio river. The southern border is to sum up conventional. The northern part of the province is essentially mountainous, occupies the 64% of the surface. Going toward south a hilly band with a surface of the 12%. The southern part of the province is included in the Padana Plain of alluvial origin that occupies a surface of the 24%.

By car - Bergamo is on the motorway A4 Milano - Venezia, at 50 Km from Milano in direction Venezia, junction toll booth Bergamo.
By train - Regional and interregional lines cross the entire Lombardy, guaranteeing a fast and diffuse service. The station of Bergamo is in the centre and is well linked with the whole city thanks public transport.
By airplane - The airport of Orio al Serio is at five minutes from the city, third pole of the airportual Lombard system, that effects national and international flights (Tel. 035 326323). Intercontinental flights call at Milano at the airport of Malpensa (Tel. 02 25800613).
