BRESCIA
The Province of
Brescia is the widest of the Lombardy. It confines to North and to North-West with the province of
Sondrio, to West with the province of
Bergamo, to South-West and South with the province of
Cremona, with the province of
Mantova to South, and to East with the
Veneto ( province of
Verona) and with the
Trentino-Alto Adige (province of
Trento).
Geography
The provincial territory comprises: almost all the
Val Camonica, crossed by the river
Oglio from the lake of
Iseo (Sebino), and the eastern shore of the lake; the
Val Trompia, mountain basin of the river
Mella; the
Val Sabbia, crossed by the river
Chiese and comprising the lake of
Idro (Eridio), except the northern portion ( Val of
Chiese); great part of the western shore and of the southern one of the lake of
Garda (Benaco); the mountain band between the lakes of
Garda and of
Iseo and the hilly areas of the
Franciacorta and of part of the
morenici hills of
Garda; an area of plain in great part comprised between the
Oglio and the
Chiese. Cause of the altitudinal and morphological variety, and the presence of great lakes, the province of
Brescia comprises the whole kinds of environment of Europe: from the Mediterranean spot to the perpetual snowof the
Adamello (with the biggest glacier of the Alps).
