HISTORY OF SONDRIO
The city of
Sondrio was estabilished in roman age. In high middleage the city became the seat of
Pieve with autority on surrounding territory.
Capitanei took the power in the XI century and they reinforced the city. In 1336
Visconti took the power and after the power was taken by
Sforza. The zone was theatre of a lot of fights among
Valtellinesi and
Grigionesi, but inspite of everything the city evolved. At the beginning of ‘800 was built the street of
Stelvio and
Sondrio entered the way of communication of
Lombadia. The urbanistic expansion still continues, and now the city laps the river
Adda.
